Malcolm Brown injury: What this means for Texas

In a game that's sure to be full of offense, the Texas Longhorns will be without running back Malcolm Brown against West Virginia. The sophomore sustained an ankle injury in the first half against Oklahoma State on Saturday, and is out against the Mountaineers.

Burnt Orange Nation says that Texas has depth to overcome the injury, but it will require others to step up:

Though Texas has the depth to deal with Brown missing the game against West Virginia -- freshman running back Johnathan Gray emerged in the fourth quarter against Oklahoma State to finally get the running game on track -- Brown's proven patience and vision will be missed. There is now a great deal of pressure on Gray to continue on the path of improvement he has shown by finishing the last two games strong.

Injuries are building up across the Texas roster. Junior linebacker Jordan Hicks might need surgery, while junior safety Adrian Phillips, sophomore defensive tackle Desmond Jackson, junior kicker Anthony Fera and junior defensive tackle Brandon Moore are all struggling to stay on the field.
