Week 6 of the college football season kicks off on Thursday night with USC heading to Utah for a Pac-12 matchup.
The second month of the 2012 college football season kicks off with a Thursday night Pac-12 clash, as USC travels to Salt Lake City for a matchup against Utah. After opening the conference slate with an upset loss to Stanford, the Trojans pulled even with a home win over Cal and now head into their game against the Utes with a full 11 days to prepare. USC hammered Cal on the ground, with Silas Redd rushing for 168 yards. The Trojans edged Utah, 23-14, last year in the Utes' conference debut at the Coliseum.
Utah was also idle in Week 5, but they enter Thursday night off a 37-7 drubbing by Arizona State in the conference opener. They have looked shaky this season in games against in-state rivals Utah State and BYU, and they will be heavy double-digit underdogs on Thursday night. But with the national spotlight and a raucous home crowd, perhaps another field-storming in Salt Lake is in order.
Game time, TV channel: 9 p.m. ET, ESPN
Point spread: Southern Cal favored by 14
