Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
Last time these two teams met, Florida State won 34-0. N.C. State isn't hoping for a repeat performance.
The last time the North Carolina State Wolfpack ran into the Florida State Seminoles, it was more like running into a brick wall as they were shutout 34-0.
One year later, the Wolfpack might have found the wrong time to try to rebound from a loss, as they host the No. 3 team in the nation, and one of the best defenses in the nation.
In his previous meeting with the Seminoles' defense, Wolfpack quarterback Mike Glennon was held to a career-low 130 yards, getting sacked four times and throwing two interceptions. Now in his senior year, Glennon has thrown for 1,422 yards and 10 touchdowns.
But the Seminoles defenses ranks as the top in the ACC in virtually every category. They also have two of the conference's best past rushers in Cornellius Carradine and Bjoern Werner who have combined for 13.5 sacks already. Tomahawk Nation points out that the Seminoles will look to aggressively attack Glennon on the pass rush as the Wolfpack have injuries to their offensive line.
The Wolfpack defense has struggled a bit on defense, ranked 31st against the pass at 284.4 yards per game. Seminoles quarterback EJ Manuel should be able to capitalize. He is ranked eighth in the nation at quarterback ranking (176.7) and yards per attempt (9.6). He also hasn't thrown an interception since the season opener.
Game time, TV channel: 8 p.m. ET, ESPN2
Point spread: Florida State is favored by 14.5-points.
