But A&M can't capitalize and misses a field goal.
Football is a violent game. Like when this happens:
It's either destruction or it's sports. Either way, it was called a penalty tacked onto the reception by Ryan Swope, getting Texas A&M deep in Alabama territory. It doesn't look like this was a hit with malicious intent, and there was no launching or lowering of the crown of the helmet. That said, he did lower the shoulder and this is typically a flag at any level.
But after the drive stalled in the redzone, A&M missed a field goal from 37 yards out and still leads 23-17.
That's four costly points left off the board from the kicking game today, and Alabama is still a touchdown away from taking the lead. It's called gig'em, Aggies, not tempt-fate'em.
