Driskel suffered a sprained right ankle in the third quarter of a 27-20 win against Louisiana-Lafayette.
After an ankle injury forced Jeff Driskel out of the game in a 27-20 win over Louisiana-Lafayette, Florida head coach Will Muschamp told reporters on Wednesday that the quarterback will be out of the lineup for Saturday's game against Jacksonville State and that Jacoby Brissett will instead start in his place.
Brissett, a sophomore who spent much of the fall in a quarterback competition with Driskel that seemingly wasn't decided until after the beginning of the season, played well in relief against Louisiana-Lafayette, completing 6 of 8 passes for 64 yards and a touchdown. It was the third game of the season in which Brissett has appeared but the first in which he recorded a passing touchdown.
Driskel had completed 13 of 16 passes against ULL before the injury and has 1,324 yards passing with 10 touchdowns and two interceptions in 2012. The Gators are 9-1, as their sole loss in 2012 came at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs.
