Matt Cashore-US PRESSWIRE

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish improved to 11-0 on the season with a dominating 38-0 win over Wake Forest on Saturday.

No. 3 Notre Dame dominated unranked Wake Forest on Saturday, scoring five touchdowns in a 38-0 shutout. Running back Cierre Wood got the scoring started on the Irish's opening drive, when he rushed for a 68-yard touchdown to begin a day in which he had 11 carries for 150 yards.

That drive went 91 yards in four plays, and it represented most of what the Notre Dame offense looked like from start to finish. Everett Golson had touchdown passes of 50, 34 and 2 yards on the day.

In the end, Wake Forest was able to pick up just 55 yards on the ground, which hurt them big time. Quarterback Tanner Price was somewhat accurate on the day, but threw for only 153 yards. All in all, it was complete domination for a Notre Dame team looking to go undefeated with a tough matchup against USC next week.

Box Score Hero: Notre Dame QB Everett Golson threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns, so he's definitely someone to consider here. Other than him, running back Cierre Wood had 11 carries for 150 yards, good for 13.6 yards per carry. He also had a touchdown in the game.

Rankings Ramifications: Notre Dame moves to 11-0 on the season and 7-0 at home, though they've likely topped out in the rankings, barring a loss from one of the top two teams.

But Did They Cover? As noted by SB Nation's college football odds page, the Fighting Irish were favored by around 23 points, and they covered just fine.

Next Week's Schedule: Wake Forest will try to move to .500 to finish the season with a game against Vanderbilt on Saturday. Notre Dame will try to remain unbeaten with a contest against No. 18 USC on the same day.
