Stanford vs. Oregon 2012 video highlights: Cardinal defense stops Ducks in their tracks

Steve Dykes

The Stanford Cardinal defense issued an historic performance for the ages, and Kevin Hogan did just enough to lift his team over the Oregon Ducks, ruining their national championship hopes.

The Stanford Cardinal defense was the story of a 17-14 shocking win over the Oregon Ducks. Here are the video highlights of the victory.

Stanford would score first thanks to a long, methodical drive managed by kevin Hogan. Hogan would find Zach Ertz, Ryan Hewitt, Ty Montgomery and Kelvin Young before plunging it into the end zone to make it 7-0 Stanford.
The Ducks would take advantage of a 4th down failure by the Cardinal to tie the game up later in the second quarter behind a Marcus Mariota connection with Keanon Lowe.

Oregon finally seemed to seize the lead with a big drive in the third quarter, as Mariota found Colt Lyerla, WIll Murphy, Kenjon Barner, Lowe, and Josh Huff before De'Anthony Thomas finally punched it in to make it 14-7. Stanford would rally to tie just before the end of the 4th quarter, as Hogan connected with Zach Ertz four times, including the game-tying nine yard touchdown where Ertz just stayed in bounds.

Oregon would get stopped again by the Stanford defense, Alejandro Maldonado missed a 41 yard field goal, Stanford escaped a deadly fumble (along with three other turnovers), and Jordan Williamson would boot through the game winner from 37 yards out.
