South Carolina vs. Clemson 2012 previews: TV schedule, odds and more

Streeter Lecka

The South Carolina-Clemson rivalry has an added element of interest this time around, with both teams ranked in the Top 15 and both coaches spewing insults at each other left and right.

The No. 11 Clemson Tigers host the No. 12 South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, S.C.

The stakes are high for this year's version of the annual rivalry game, with a potential BCS berth on the line for the Tigers and a second-consecutive 10-win season, which would be the first such run in school history, in play for the Gamecocks.

Neither team made up any ground in the BCS rankings following uninspiring victories last weekend. Clemson put up 62 points on North Carolina State, but also allowed 48. Meanwhile, the Gamecocks won their third-consecutive game in less-than-impressive fashion, defeating FCS team Wofford, 24-7, before falling three spots.

As if both teams being ranked in the Top 15 heading into the game for the first time since 1987 wasn't enough drama, head coaches Dabo Sweeney and Steve Spurrier haven't been able to stop taking shots at one another, and their programs, since the completion of last year's game. Spurrier's comments have included saying Swinney talks "a bunch of garbage," while Swinney has told the press that South Carolina is "never going to be Clemson."
