The Alabama Crimson Tide are ready for the SEC Championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs after dispatching their hapless rivals the Auburn Tigers.
The Alabama Crimson Tide mercifully killed off their archrivals the Auburn Tigers with a 49-0 victory in Tuscaloosa. Here are the highlights of this year's Iron Bowl.
Alabama had no trouble dominating from the start. The Tide capped off two long methodical drives in the first quarter with rushing scores by Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon. Then AJ McCarron hit up Amari Cooper for 37 yards and Kevin Norwood for seven yards to make it 28-0, Lacy put in his second rushing score to drive it up to 35-0, and McCarron found Cooper to cap off a perfect first half of football.
The Crimson Tide scored on all six of their first half offensive possessions, taking advantage of two Auburn turnovers and forcing three punts. Alabama would actually score touchdowns on their first seven possessions before settling into cruise control.
Alabama will face Georgia in the SEC championship game next week for the right to face Notre Dame in the BCS National Championship game in Miami.
