The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders will join Conference USA, according to a report by Harry Minium of the Virginian-Pilot. The reverberations from the Big Ten and Big East conference realignments continue to trickle down to smaller conferences.
On Tuesday, East Carolina and Tulane announced that they were leaving Conference USA to join the Big East. C-USA did not waste much time in finding a replacement. This leaves the conference with 13 schools, and they are expected to add one more in the next few weeks. Candidates include Florida Atlantic and New Mexico State.
MTSU is competing in the Sun Belt conference this season, where they are tied for first place with Arkansas State. The Blue Raiders are 8-3 on the season and have a 49-28 upset win at Georgia Tech on their resume. Middle Tennessee State and Arkansas St. will face off for the conference title on Saturday at 3 p.m.
