Saints OC Pete Carmichael says he hasn't talked to Boston College

Derick E. Hingle-US PRESSWIRE

Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, Jr. says that he has not spoken with Boston College about their head coaching vacancy.

New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, Jr. has been reported as a potential candidate for the head coaching job at Boston College, but Carmichael says he has heard nothing from the school about the open position:

Carmichael is a graduate of Boston College and has been coaching in the NFL since 2000. He first joined the Saints in 2006 as a quarterbacks coach before taking over the offensive coordinator duties in 2009. New Orleans' offense has finished No. 1 in the NFL in four of six years under Carmichael's watch.

Boston College is looking for a new coach after firing Frank Spaziani on Sunday. After a relatively strong start at Boston College, the Eagles went just 6-18 the past two years under Spaziani, including a woeful 2-10 this season. The team did not win a bowl game in Spaziani's four seasons, losing in the Emerald Bowl in 2009 and the Fight Hunger Bowl in 2010.
