Thursday night's battle for headway in the very crowded top of the Sun Belt standings has Arkansas State leading UL Monroe, 17-10, at halftime. The winner will have an uncontested lead (for the moment) in perhaps the most competitive conference in college football -- half the SBC entered the week with three losses.
Both quarterbacks have been solid, with Ryan Aplin and Cody Wells combining for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Aplin did throw his first pick in 194 attempts, killing a drive at the end of the half that would've given the Red Wolves a two-score lead.
Among the differences has been ASU's ground game. David Oku has 70 yards already, part of a 115-yard effort overall.
The Warhawks trail, but this isn't the first time this year they've faced a second half deficit against an Arkansas school. I'm talking about that Razorbacks game, you see.
