Virginia Tech redshirt freshman Michael Cole had to leave the field in an ambulance after suffering an injury. The good news: it's only a neck sprain, and he has both feeling and movement.
Redshirt freshman Virginia Tech rover Michael Cole was taken off the field in the third quarter against Florida State via an ambulance with what VT is calling a neck sprain.
Cole went down while bringing down a FSU ball-carrier from behind, with the top of his head absorbing the contact as he made the hit. He kicked his feet after going down, but remained motionless after that.
In front of a silent Lane Stadium crowd, Cole laid face-down and still while surrounded by medical personnel, teammates and Hokies coach Frank Beamer. His face mask was removed and he was covered in a blanket while being moved.
The former Roanoke three-star prospect has been a solid contributor for VT, ranking fourth on the team in tackles and also posting two interceptions and a handful of other big plays.
