Things haven't exactly gone as planned this year for either the Pittsburgh Panthers or the Connecticut Huskies. The two teams are a combined 1-7 in Big East play this year, with the Panthers picking up that lone win on Oct. 27 against Temple.
But that doesn't mean these teams don't have anything to play for on Friday night when they square off in East Hartford.
The Panthers will want to rebound from that triple-overtime thriller against Notre Dame last week – a game in which they nearly took down one of the few unbeaten teams left in the country. A win would put PIttsburgh at five wins total, leaving them one short of bowl eligibility with two to play.
UConn, meanwhile, is still in search of its first Big East win and can move out of sole possession of last place in the league with a win.
For the Huskies, points have been at a premium this year. The Huskies have lost four straight games and have scored only three second-half points all season against Big East opponents.
The Panthers, meanwhile, have not had that problem at all. They have been in every game they've played except for a 24-point loss to Cincinnati back in September.
