Both Toledo and Utah State showed flashes of brilliance this season, and they'll have the chance to end the season on a high note in Saturday's Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
Toledo, out of the MAC, finished the year 9-3 overall and 6-2 in conference play. Back-to-back losses in early November ended their hopes of a berth in the conference title game, but the Rockets still have the opportunity to cap the year with a win over a nationally ranked program. David Fluellen is the unquestioned offensive leader for the Rockets, rushing for 13 touchdowns on 252 carries for 1,460 yards.
No. 22 Utah State has won six straight and finished WAC play at a perfect 6-0. Kerwynn Williams leads a balanced receiving corps that saw four players haul in five touchdown passes. Utah State is also eighth in the country in points against, allowing just 15.4 per contest. The Aggies have not lost since Oct. 5 on the road at BYU. They played in last year's Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, losing to Ohio.
