Your New Mexico Bowl expectations: lots of points. Your expectations have been proved correct.
At the halftime break in the 2012 New Mexico Bowl, Nevada leads Arizona, 31-28, kicking off bowl season with a whole lot of scoring all at once. Each team has put up 21 consecutive points, with Nevada taking a commanding lead before the Wildcats came cruising right back.
I'm saying: 720 combined yards worth of offense, 45 first downs and 102 offensive plays in 30 minutes. The bowl record for total combined yardage, by the way, is 1,397, set in last year's Alamo Bowl.
The tiebreaker, so far, was a field goal chip shot by the Wolf Pack as the clock expired. It'll probably be the last time anybody scores here! No.
New Mexico Bowl score updates and discussion.
Also on the line: the national rushing yardage title, with No. 1 Ka'Deem Carey leading No. 2 Stefphon Jefferson by 54 yards entering the day. Each player is on pace for yet another big day, with Carey posting 146 and three touchdowns and Jefferson putting up 130 and two.
