The son of Cris Carter has left his fourth college in four years.
Wide receiver Duron Carter has left the Florida Atlantic Owls, according to OwlAccess.com.
Carter, the son of former NFL wide receiver Cris Carter, was at his fourth college in Florida Atlantic. He started his career with the Ohio State Buckeyes — his father's alma mater — catching 13 passes for 176 yards and one touchdown as a freshman in 2009. He then transferred to Coffeyeville (Kansas) Community College, where he caught 44 passes for 690 yards and 10 scores.
He left Coffeyeville for the Alabama Crimson Tide, where he never made the field with academic problems.
Carter petitioned the NCAA in an attempt to play for Florida Atlantic in 2012, but his request was denied. He spent much of the season practicing with the scout team but spent the last several weeks focusing on schoolwork, OwlAccess.com said, missing practices while still attending meetings.
OwlAccess.com reported it believes Carter will enter in the 2013 NFL Draft.
