The defensive tackle's career at Georgia is likely over.
The Georgia Bulldogs are just under a week away from playing in the Capital One Bowl and they'll have to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers without senior nose tackle John Jenkins. Head coach Mark Richt says Jenkins won't be able to play in the game because of academic issues.
Jenkins was voted to the All-SEC second team this season and has received an invitation to this year's Senior Bowl. The big nose tackle listed at 358 pounds is projected to be a first round draft pick by CBS Sports in next April's NFL Draft.
Jenkins transfered from Gulf Coast Community College before his junior season, when he recorded 28 tackles and six tackles for a loss including three sacks. Jenkins was eighth on the team in tackles this season with 50 but his production nabbing ball carriers in the backfield dropped off with just two tackles for a loss and one sack.
