According a tweet from Robbie Neiswanger of the Arkansas News Bureau, new Arkansas Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema's contract will be a $600,000 pay raise over his previous job at the University of Wisconsin. The contract is a six-year deal worth $3.2 million.
Arkansas snatching Bielema away from the Badgers was a surprising development in the Razorbacks search for a new coach to replace the departed Bobby Petrino, who hired his mistress to work in the athletic department and was subsequently fired.
Bielema spent seven seasons at Wisconsin, consistently being among the top teams in the Big Ten and leading his team to a surprising inclusion in the Rose Bowl this season after upsetting the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the conference championship game.
Bielema left Wisconsin with a 68-24 career record and takes over a program that finished last season ranked in the top five in the country, only to stumble out of the gate this year and finish a disappointing 4-8.
