Fedora told a recruit today he was staying put in Chapel Hill.

North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Larry Fedora hasn't done much publicly to end speculation that he's in the running to interview for the head coaching vacancy with the Tennessee Volunteers. But privately, it's apparently a different matter completely. A recruit from the upcoming 2013 class told The News and Observer he's not worried about Fedora jumping ship anytime soon.

Jordan Fieulleteau, a wide receiver from nearby Wakefield High School in Raleigh, say he called Fedora to ask about his status as the Tar Heels head coach. Fieulleteau said Fedora told him it was just a rumor he was leaving for Tennessee and that he was staying put. He apparently came away from the conversation confident Fedora would be sticking around.

I know he’ll honor his word. He’s a man of his word. You can’t just talk to a kid and tell him – not make him a promise, but tell him something and then go back on your word. So I’m 100 percent confident that he’ll stay at UNC.

Fieulleteau committed to UNC in February with scholarship offers from Duke and East Carolina also in hand. Fedora led the Tar Heels to an 8-4 record in his first season as the head coach after four successful seasons with the Southern Miss. Golden Eagles.
