The college football regular season is over except for one more game: Army vs. Navy. The Navy Midshipmen and the Army Black Knights battle in the final game of 2012 this Saturday on CBS. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET.
Navy is 7-4 and headed off to the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl to face Arizona State. Army is struggling at 2-9 on the season. Understandably, Navy has opened as significant nine-point favorites. The line has since then shrunk to seven points in most sportsbooks.
Army has struggled all year long. It started out the season 0-4, losing to San Diego State, Northern Illinois, Wake Forest and Stony Brook. After recovering to beat Boston College, Army lost three in a row to Kent State, Eastern Michigan and Ball State. An upset win over Air Force was followed by losses to Rutgers and Temple.
The Midshipmen's season was more successful. They recovered nicely from a 1-3 start where they suffered losses to Notre Dame, Penn State and San Jose State to then beat Air Force, Central Michigan, Indiana, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic and Texas State. That gave Navy six wins in its final seven to get to a bowl game. The only loss Navy suffered during that home stretch was to Troy.
