Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins will miss this week's game against the Boston College Eagles after contracting an abdominal virus.
Clemson Tigers sophomore wide receiver Sammy Watkins will not play against the Boston College Eagles after contracting an abdominal virus, according to a statement made on the team's offiical Twitter feed.
It's been a difficult season for Watkins after a breakout freshman campaign that saw him record 82 receptions for 1,219 yards and 12 touchdowns. Watkins was suspended for the first two games of the year against Ball State and Auburn after he was arrested on drug-realated charges during the offseason.
In two games this year, Watkins has caught 10 balls for 76 yards while also rushing for 95 yards and a touchdown on six carries. Watkins also threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Andre Ellington in Clemson's 49-37 loss to Florida State last week.
Along with Watkins, offensive guard Kalon Davis will miss this week's game against the Eagles due to a hamstring injury suffered in practice earlier in the week.
