West Virginia video PSA urges you to stop burning couches
Mountaineers fans are known for destroying furniture after big wins or big losses or normal wins or normal losses. West Virginia University Student Government would prefer it if you'd please cut that out.
The best things about it:
- It has more YouTube dislikes than likes. LIVE FREE OR DIE
- The Couch as both tempting object of destruction and ultimate tool of punishment. That's just good tragedy writing.
- West Virginia has arrested its own mascot, and unlike previous mascot arrests, there's really nothing cartoon funny about seeing a person mascot get arrested. Just seems like a normal thing that happens when you discharge a firearm while people are watching TV.
- A firearm is discharged while people are watching TV, and this is not the thing for which the suspect is arrested. West Virginia is like my favorite state.
- "Burning a couch isn't cool." No, lady, burning a couch is awesome. The issue is whether it's legal, not whether it's cool.
