Oklahoma State and Mississippi State are working on a deal to hold the 2012-13 season opener at Reliant Stadium in Houston, according to an ESPN report. The game is currently slated to be held on Aug. 31.
Reliant Stadium will be the home to a yearly season-opening game for the NCAA, joining Atlanta's Georgia Dome and Cowboys Stadium as the two stadiums with annual college football games on Labor Day weekend.
The No. 21 Mississippi State Bulldogs, coached by Dan Mullen, are 3-1 on the season and are coming off a 23-17 win over Wake Forest in the 2011 Music City Bowl. The Bulldogs defeated Michigan, 52-14, in the Gator Bowl on New Year's Day in 2011.
Oklahoma State is coming off a 41-38 overtime win over Stanford in the 2012 Fiesta Bowl, and are currently 2-1 on the season. The Cowboys will face the No. 12 Texas Longhorns on Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater.
