Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
Siasau Matagiese is the second Hawai'i defensive tackle to be taken off the field on a stretcher.
Hawaii Warriors defensive lineman Siasau Matagiese was taken off the field in an ambulance following a helmet-to-helmet hit during his game against BYU.
He became the second Hawai'i player to leave the field on a stretcher. Earlier, backup defensive tackle Geordon Hanohano left the game with a neck injury.
The scene was the same as the prior injury for Hawaii, as Matagiese had trainers rush to his aid as they called for the backboard and carefully looked him over to assess his injury. Matagiese's injury appeared after a hit above the shoulders, and he fell awkwardly to the ground.
Losing both Matagiese and Hanohano is a big loss for the Warriors, as they were the top two players on the depth chart at defensive tackle.
