The Oregon Ducks come off perhaps the highest of highs, and Saturday they'll visit a Washington State Cougars team looking to rebound from the lowest of lows. Against the No. 2 team in the nation, Mike Leach's squad won't have an easy recovery from a painful 35-34 home loss to the woeful Colorado Buffaloes.
Meanwhile, the Ducks (4-0) will look to again flex their defensive muscle, which shut out a prolific Arizona Wildcats offense and scored on two interception returns for touchdowns in a 49-0 victory last week.
The Cougars have struggled to kick Leach's pass-heavy spread offense into gear, ranking 91st in scoring so far. They went to quarterback Connor Halliday in the last two games, and he's moved the ball by averaging 389.5 passing yards in the starts. The Ducks will surely look to have their ball-hawking abilities tuned up, much like they were against the Wildcats.
And Washington State's own defense has left much to be desired, as well. WSU is giving up an average of 28 points per game against BYU, Eastern Washington, UNLV and Colorado. That's 82nd in the nation, and they'll be working with that poor resume against a top-five scoring offense led by speedster De'Anthony Thomas and quarterback Marcus Mariota.
Game time, TV channel: 10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2
Point spread: Oregon opened as the favorite by 28, according to OddsShark.
