Jerome Miron-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
Baylor defensive backs Demetri Goodson and Josh Wilson were both injured in their game against West Virginia, leaving freshman Terrell Burt to pick up slack in the secondary.
Demetri Goodson and Josh Wilson have both left Baylor's game against the West Virginia Mountaineers due to injury. Goodson, a senior defensive back, fell on his own arm while tackling J.D. Woods as the Mountaineers drove into the red zone near the end of the first quarter. Goodson headed to the locker room with an air cast on his arm and appears done for the game. Wilson entered the game as Goodson's replacement, but soon found himself hobbling off the field. The extent of Wilson's injury is unclear as well as how soon he would return.
With both men out, Terrell Burt is likely to see time in the secondary. The freshman was ranked No. 22 among defensive backs by ESPN coming in to the season. Baylor's defense can hardly afford to lose their starters. West Virginia collected 144 yards in the first quarter, including 99 through the air, and were 4-for-5 on third downs. Baylor's offense was keeping pace, leaving the score tied 14-14 after 15 minutes, but anything Baylor's defense can do to hold back the Mountaineers is necessary.
