NC State's annual derp is never not reliable

Frustrated that Florida State might not fail miserably to live up to their preseason hype this season? Never fear, the Wolfpack is here.

That incessant buzzing noise every August in the Atlantic Coast Conference? It's the hype that NC State might stop soiling itself long enough to patch together an eight-plus win season and justify Tom O'Brien's existence. Buzz around NC State having a "breakout" season is routine, unfounded and always wonderful fodder for ridicule right around ... this time each year, via gif.mocksession.com:

Do-not-do-this_medium

Sure, we're all used to pointing and laughing at the post-1990s disappointment annually teed-up by Florida State, but if you're looking for a less exciting, cheaper, off-brand version of that narrative, that's the Wolfpack.

UPDATE: NC State has pulled within three. Place this commentary into your freezer until next week, thaw and serve.
