The Oklahoma St. Cowboys will face the Purdue Boilermakers in the 2012 Heart of Dallas Bowl. Most college football fans will recognize this game as a matchup between two programs that have seen better days.
For the Okie State Cowboys, this was the first season without Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon, and although head coach Mike Gundy had flirtations with several other schools, the best coach the school has had in decades is still in Stillwater. This year, his Cowboys are just 7-5, but they could have been so much more after close losses to Baylor and Oklahoma in the late games of 2012.
Purdue, however, started 0-5 and many had written them off for bowl contention. They won six of their next seven games and made themselves eligible for a bowl. Unfortunately for them, they're the second-most popular college football team in Indiana facing a school from Oklahoma in Texas. So, good luck playing for the 28 fans in the stands, Boilermakers.
