South Carolina player's head gets punted: More special teams oddity

ESPN

Michigan has solved the Ace Sanders problem, I guess?

Earlier in the Outback Bowl, South Carolina holy terror Ace Sanders ran back a punt 63 yards for a touchdown. He does that kind of thing all the time, because he is a horrifying nuisance.

The answer, for Michigan, which is without starting punter Will Hagerup, is to simply court penalties on punts. But the Wolverines must do so with caution -- they're already down to their backup punter, and can't risk sending out like Denard Robinson or whoever their next punter up is.

So simply ensure Matt Wile kicks any oncoming Gamecocks right square in the head, thereby drawing a flag without actually accruing any punter damage. This penalty on Kadetrix Marcus was for naught, but that devious Michigan special teams game has stumbled on another strategy.
