Florida TE Jordan Reed declares for NFL draft

Reed, who was the Gators' leading receiver this season, decided to skip his senior season and enter the 2013 NFL Draft.

Florida Gators redshirt junior tight end Jordan Reed declared for the 2013 NFL Draft on Friday, the school announced. Reed led the team in receiving during the 2012 season and earned a first team All-SEC nod from the Associated Press.

Reed caught 28 passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns as a sophomore in 2011, and he improved on that production this season, grabbing 45 passes for 559 yards and three scores. Only Quinton Dunbar caught more touchdowns for the Gators in 2012.

He appeared in 36 games, including 26 starts, over the course of his collegiate career.

Based on several NFL Draft sources, Reed appears to be one of the top tight end prospects entering the 2013 draft -- he is ranked among the top five at his position by both NFL Draft Scout and Walter Football. The latter projects Reed as a potential second- or third-round selection come April.
