This go around though, the Bearkats must be hoping to score more than six points they put on board in the 13-point loss. And with Timothy Flanders having the year that he is, that doesn't seem like it's too far out of the realm of possibility. Flanders came up huge in Sam Houston State's 45-42 semifinal victory over the Eastern Washington, chipping in 231 of the Bearkats' 418 rushing yards on the game. With 17 rushing touchdowns on the season, the two-time Soutland conference player of the year is the engine behind Sam Houston State's second ranked scoring offense.
Then again, there aren't that many defenses on any level of collegiate football that are as purely dominating as North Dakota State's. The defending champion Bison own the FCS' top defense in terms of total yards allowed and have only given up 20 offensive touchdowns on the season. Additionally, the NDSU has yet to give up more than 21 points in a game this season.
With all that in mind, it's looking like this will be a test to truly determine what wins championships: an explosive offense or an unyielding defense.
