Eddie Lacy boosts draft stock with dominant performance in BCS Championship

Lacy shredded the Notre Dame defense Monday night, turning heads with each broken tackle and long run.

Alabama junior running back Eddie Lacy capped off his strong season with a dominant showing in the National Championship game on Monday night against Notre Dame.

The bruising running back racked up 140 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries as Alabama cruised by Notre Dame, 42-14, to win its second straight national championship.

Lacy has played his way up draft boards throughout the season, showing strong bursts between the tackles and running with tons of power behind the nation's best offensive line. He finished the season with 1,300 yards and 20 touchdowns.

While Lacy has benefited from the play of his offensive line, he's definitely looking like a solid second-round option at this point. In a running back class without a runaway top prospect, Lacy should be in the running to be the first running back off the board.

Lacy, who still has another season of eligibility, has until Jan. 15 to declare for the 2013 NFL Draft.
