Ole Miss junior defensive end C.J. Johnson will miss the rest of the season because of injury, per Hugh Kellenberger of the Jackson Clarion-Ledger. Johnson will try to get a medical redshirt, which would allow him to play for two more seasons at Ole Miss.
Johnson had 12 tackles, including four for a loss, in 2013. He led the team in sacks a season ago.
The Rebels are dealing with a bunch of injuries to contributors, making the Johnson news just the latest in a long line of setbacks. This is not exactly a good time for the Rebels to be ailing, because LSU is in town this weekend.
The Rebels are particularly hurting up front on the defensive side. In addition to Johnson, defensive end Robert Nkemdiche won't play against LSU because of a hamstring issue. Linebacker/DE Temario Strong is doubtful, defensive tackle Issac Gross has a shoulder injury that he'll try to play through and defensive end Carlos Thompson will not be able to go. Ole Miss blog Red Cup Rebellion has the full injury breakdown.
