Lightning storms will delay the start of this afternoon's showdown between Texas Tech and Oklahoma until at least 4:45 p.m. ET. Kickoff was originally scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
There are thunderstorms all across Oklahoma today and it doesn't seem like the rain will let up anytime soon. College football requires 30 minutes to pass without a nearby lightning strike before play can start or resume.
While kickoff is now scheduled for an hour and 15 minutes later than originally planned, it could be much longer wait in Norman.
It would seem the sloppy conditions would favor the Sooners. Texas Tech wants to come in and air the ball out, and the rain could present freshman quarterback Davis Webb with some issues. Oklahoma, on the other hand, features one of the better rushing attacks in the nation and will look to pound the ball on the ground early and often.
