Tennessee was oh-so-close to taking the lead on Georgia in the first overtime. With the ball inside UGA's 10 yard line, the Volunteers gave the ball to Pig Howard, who got the edge and lunged for the goal line. He lost control of the ball in the process:
Officials ruled it a fumble after reviewing the play, and therefore a touchback for Georgia. That proved the decisive play of the game; Georgia cashed in the game-winning field goal on its subsequent possession.
