Wyoming hung around with Fresno State for two quarters but could not keep pace with the Bulldogs in the second half and Fresno State pulled away late for a 48-10 win.
No. 16 Fresno State remains undefeated and would automatically qualify for a BCS bowl if it keeps winning and either a) remains ranked ahead of an automatic qualifying conference champion or b) finishes with a ranking of No. 12 or higher in the BCS standings.
Wyoming jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the second quarter and trailed by just four points at halftime, but Derek Carr and the Bulldog offense exploded for 34 second-half points. Fresno State was firing on all cylinders both on the ground and in the air, finishing the night with exactly 600 yards of total offense.
Box Score Hero: Derek Carr completed 33-of-46 pass attempts for 316 yards and four touchdowns.
Rankings Ramifications: Fresno State came into this game ranked 16th in the BCS standings. With LSU and Miami losing (the latter in blowout fashion), the Bulldogs stand to move up a few spots. Because Fresno State is ranked ahead of likely AAC champion UCF, the Bulldogs are in good shape for a BCS bid if they just keep winning.
But Did They Cover? Fresno State was favored to win by eight points. They covered with ease.
Next Week's Schedule: Fresno State is idle next Saturday, but returns to action the following week at home against New Mexico. Wyoming goes on the road to take on Boise State.
