Alabama and Auburn square off in the yearly Iron Bowl this week, and the stakes are higher than they have been in some time. The Tide are still the top-ranked team in the country -- the winners of the last two national titles -- while Auburn has risen all the way to No. 4 and will look to jump an undefeated Ohio State team in the standings with a win.
Alabama opened as a 9.5-point favorite, but that lines has since moved to 10.5 points, via OddsShark.com's odds database.
Auburn has covered the spread in each of its last five games, including wins over ranked opponents Georgia and Texas A&M. Alabama has covered the spread in each of their past five road games, and while the recent trends suggest the game might hit the over (it's gone over in five of Alabama's last six road games and five of Auburn's last six games period), that hasn't been the case in matchups between these two programs.
Auburn has won ten of the last 17 games between the two schools, including seven of the last eleven. Alabama has won the last two games in blowout fashion -- a combined margin of 93-14.
