Oregon-Stanford to host 'mini-College GameDay' on Thursday

US PRESSWIRE

ESPN will be broadcasting live from Stanford in the morning and before kickoff.

Arguably the biggest game of the college football season will be played on Thursday night as No. 3 Oregon heads to No. 5 Stanford. Prior to ESPN broadcasting the game at 9 p.m. ET, there will be a show similar to College GameDay live from Stanford Stadium.

While it won't be the crew of regulars, Scott Van Pelt, Kirk Herbstreit, Brian Greise and Mark May will headline the coverage with a live show in the morning. The morning segments will air live on SportsCenter at 12:15, 1:15 and 2:15 p.m. ET. Ninety minutes prior to kickoff, they will also have a pregame show from inside the stadium.

It's not surprising to see ESPN promote this game so much. A win for Oregon would likely be enough to jump them ahead of Florida State for No. 2 in the BCS, and given their strength of schedule advantage down the stretch, the Ducks would be in prime position to play for the national title. As for Stanford, another win over UO could move them as high as No. 3 in the BCS and would keep them squarely in the hunt to play for the championship in Pasadena later this year.
