How to watch BYU vs. Wisconsin: Preview, TV time, odds and more

Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sport

Which team will keep its 10-win hopes alive?

An exciting non-conference matchup in November? It's true! Wisconsin hosts BYU Saturday afternoon. Television coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

The Badgers started out the year with dominating wins over Massachusetts and Tennessee Tech, but lost a controversial game to Arizona State to blemish their perfect record. Their only other loss? A seven-pointer to Ohio State. The Badgers are otherwise perfect in B1G play, and with games against Indiana, Minnesota and Penn State left on the schedule, they very well could stay that way.

BYU caught national attention with a drubbing of Texas bad enough to get then-Longhorns defensive coordinator Manny Diaz fired. The Cougars suffered early-season losses to Virginia and Utah, but have been perfect since. Other than Texas, they sport impressive wins over Georgia Tech, Houston, Boise State and Utah State.

The numbers

Rankings and records: Wisconsin is ranked No. 24 in the most recent BCS standings. The Badgers are 6-2 with a 4-1 conference record (second in the Big Ten Leaders Division.) BYU is 6-2 this year. The Cougars won the only game between the two schools, in 1980.

Vegas: Wisconsin is a 7.5-point favorite. The over/under is 55.

Weather: Low 50s and partly cloudy.

Three names to know

Taysom Hill. BYU has one of the top running quarterbacks in the country in Hill, who has run for eight scores so far this season.

Melvin Gordon. Wisconsin's running back is averaging 8.7 yards per carry and has 11 touchdowns on the season.

James White. Gordon's co-starter ain't too shabby either, averaging 6.3 yards per carry with nine scores.

Two things at stake

After disappointing losses to Virginia and Utah in the early season, BYU has put together quite the nice year. The Cougars have to win out to make it a 10 wins.

Wisconsin might be the best two-loss team in the country. After a questionable loss to Arizona State and one-touchdown loss to Ohio State, the Badgers will be looking to win out and get a good bowl spot.
