New Hampshire vs. SE Louisiana results: Wildcats advance to semis with a 20-17 win

Crystal LoGiudice-USA TODAY Spor

The 4th seeded Lions fall in a battle of feline and feline.

The dream season is still alive for the New Hampshire Wildcats, who were unseeded heading into the FCS playoffs, but have now upset the fourth and fifth seeds in the tournament after beating Southeastern Louisiana, 20-17.

For that, they have quarterback Sean Goldrich to thank -- the sophomore from West Haven, CT accounted for 375 yards of total offense on Saturday, and scored all three of New Hampshire's touchdowns. Finding the end zone from 32, one and two yards out, respectively, the third of those scores put the Wildcats up 20-17 with just :47 seconds to play, although the ensuing extra point was blocked by Southeastern Louisiana.

Of course, he wasn't alone -- Nico Steretti chipped in 75 yards on 14 carries, and R.J. Harris caught 11 passes for 110 yards -- but the win depended largely Goldrich's heroics.

The Lions -- led by former Oregon quarterback Bryan Bennett -- took over from their own 26 with 43 seconds left, but were unable to advance the ball past the New Hampshire 43-yard line. Bennett completed 25-of-46 passes for 269 yards, with a touchdown and interception during the game.

New Hampshire advances to play No. 1 seed North Dakota State next week, and figure to be underdogs there, too, as the Bison are on a hunt for their third consecutive FCS championship.
