Blake Anderson leaving UNC for Arkansas State HC job

US PRESSWIRE

Anderson would take over at Arkansas State, where he would be the fifth different head coach in five years for the Red Wolves.

Blake Anderson will be named the next head coach at Arkansas State, according to Football Scoop. Anderson has spent the last two years as the offensive coordinator at North Carolina. (Update: Arkansas State's AD confirms.)

Anderson found great success with the Tar Heels in 2012, setting numerous school records while helping lead UNC to an 8-4 record. They averaged 40.6 points per game and ranked 14th nationally in yards per game. North Carolina took a step back this past season after losing a handful of players to the NFL and graduation, posting a 6-6 record and ranking just 48th in scoring.

Prior to joining UNC, Anderson spent three years coaching at Southern Miss. He also served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Louisiana-Lafayette in 2007.

Following the departure of coach Bryan Harsin to Boise State, Anderson would be the fifth head coach in five years at Arkansas State. Following Steve Roberts' departure in 2010, Hugh Freeze, Gus Malzahn and Harsin all took jobs elsewhere after just one season in Jonesboro. Despite all of the coaching turmoil, ASU has still managed to average nine wins a season over the last three years.
