James Franklin now reportedly connected to NFL, Texas, and Penn State jobs

Could Vanderbilt's star coach be headed to the professional ranks after three straight bowl games at one of the nation's toughest jobs?

Texas and Penn State aren't the only hot coaching jobs reported to be potential destinations for rising star and Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin. NFL teams are apparently looking at the young coach, Ian Rapoport is reporting.

Franklin has orchestrated a historic turnaround at Vanderbilt, normally a cellar-dwellar in the ultra-competitive SEC. He has led the Commodores to bowl games in each of his first three seasons with the program -- the first time in school history the team has made it to three straight bowl games -- and compiled an impressive 23-15 record, with an 11-13 mark in SEC play.

Franklin is one of four coaches reportedly being considered strongly for the Texas job, and has also reportedly been eyeing the Penn State job, which could become open if Bill O'Brien leaves for the NFL.

In 2005, Franklin was the wide receivers coach for the Green Bay Packers -- his only NFL experience.
