New Kentucky football uniform alternate unveiled by potential recruit

USA Today Sports

A highly touted prospect looking at Kentucky showed Twitter a gray Wildcats uniform with a matching helmet.

Five-star defensive tackle Matt Elam is visiting Lexington, and while there, he took the opportunity to show off some new duds and a matching helmet he might hypothetically be able to wear should he join the Wildcats:

Gray would be a new color on the gridiron for Kentucky. There's a reason it's "Big Blue Nation," and not "Big Gray Nation." It's not clear what the Wildcats' plans for these jerseys are -- normally there's a more official jersey release than a recruit holding up a jersey on twitter.

The guy with the jersey is commit Denzel Ware, a four-star defensive end who is already among the 19 players in Mark Stoops' 2014 class, which is ranked No. 14 in the nation by 247's composite. The people who really suffer here are Western Kentucky, whose new uniform buzz in the state of Kentucky lasted but two days.
