Alabama linebacker Trey DePriest has been suspended for a violation team rules, per head coach Nick Saban. The suspension won't be too significant however, and DePriest could be back on the field in time for the Crimson Tide's season opener against Virginia Tech.
Saban on DePriest: "We have a lot of respect for him but he did something that was not a very smart thing. Hopefully he will learn from it."— Cecil Hurt (@CecilHurt) August 13, 2013
DePriest, a junior, had a fine sophomore campaign in 2012. The Springfield, Ohio, product compiled 59 tackles and four tackles for loss as a starter and he added two pass breakups and two quarterback hurries. DePriest played in all 14 games during Alabama's run to its third BCS Championship in four years. In a backup role during his freshman season in 2011, he totaled 25 tackles -- 1.5 for loss -- and a QB hurry.
