Plenty of former Oklahoma State players already have taken issue with what was alleged in the story published Tuesday morning by Sports Illustrated. Now one of the players who was a source in the article is recanting.
This comment made by Rodrick Johnson, which he posted on Facebook, began making the rounds Tuesday:
Other versions of this photo were shared by other folks on Twitter, though the remarks were only visible to Johnson's Facebook friends. Johnson is currently using an Oklahoma State photo as his Facebook banner.
In the article, Johnson says there was a payment system for good play at Oklahoma State while he was there, and that it was openly talked about. He said teammate Darrent Williams once told him, "If you perform like I perform, you get paid like you're supposed to be paid." Johnson also told SI that he was one of the players overpaid for jobs or compensated for jobs he didn't do.
Despite what he reportedly told SI, Johnson doesn't seem to be one of the guys being slammed by the former players who have come out to vehemently deny the allegations laid forth in the story.
