The Justin Worley Era at Tennessee was short-lived, as head coach Butch Jones has benched the junior QB and named Nathan Peterman, a redshirt freshman, the Vols' starter under center as Tennessee prepares to face Florida.
The timing is curious, as Worley hasn't exactly struggled; he's 35-57 for 372 yards, five scores and a pick in three games of action, while Peterman is 6-12 for 40 yards in backup play. Worley's 141.7 QB rating places him 53rd in the nation in passing efficiency.
Peterman will face arguably the best set of cornerbacks in the nation in this, his first start; Florida's got Loucheiz Purifoy, Marcus Roberson and super freshman Vernon Hargreaves III all at corner, and the Gator front four has terrorized opposing quarterbacks all season long.
So, uh, good luck, Peterman!
