Jadeveon Clowney frustrated with opponents' game plans vs. South Carolina

Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports

The South Carolina star speaks out after offenses have taken him largely out of the first two games of the season.

Heisman hype does not come easy for defensive players, but Jadeveon Clowney is no normal defensive player. After recording 23.5 tackles for a loss and 13 sacks as a sophomore in 2012, he entered the year as the consensus top NFL draft pick and was considered perhaps the most talented player in college football.

Through two games in 2013, the young South Carolina defensive lineman has struggled to match his ungodly statistics from last year, as opposing offenses have started to game plan specifically around him. Understandably, Clowney is starting to get frustrated with how things have been going on in 2013.

Clowney had a sack -- his first on the year -- before being sidelined by an ankle injury Saturday against Georgia. He recorded just three tackles against North Carolina in the Gamecocks' opener.

Offenses have seemingly decided to run their offenses around Clowney, and that seemed to work well for the Bulldogs, who came away with a 41-30 win. We'll see if Steve Spurrier and South Carolina decide to adjust their utilization of the young star.

Sounds like some coaches are thinking along the same lines as those who talked to SB Nation about stopping Clowney. How will South Carolina's star DE respond?
