West Virginia linebacker Doug Rigg was immobilized and carted off the field Saturday after suffering what appeared to be a serious injury against Oklahoma, but the senior has tweeted that he is "alright".
I'm alright thank you for all the support I am on the plane with the team safely I will try and respond back when we land— Douglas Rigg (@bigrigg47) September 8, 2013
Rigg also posted on Facebook that he had suffered a concussion. He suffered the injury after a helmet-to-helmet collision with teammate Karl Joseph on a tackle, and remained motionless on the field before being carted off. Rigg was responsive and able to move his extremities as he was being taken off the field. He was brought to a nearby hospital in Oklahoma City, and it appears he was able to travel back to Morgantown with the rest of the Mountaineers, according to a tweet from one of West Virginia's student managers.
Good to see @bigrigg47 walk into the airport just now....that was some scary stuff on the field earlier— Jakob Rinehart (@Rinehart15) September 8, 2013
The senior is one of the leaders of West Virginia's defense, and started each of the past two years at WILL linebacker. In 2012, he was the fifth-leading tackler on the Mountaineers, recording 60 on the season.
