Gator Bowl 2014: TV schedule, streaming, preview for Nebraska vs. Georgia

Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports

The game will kickoff at noon ET on ESPN2.

We get a rare bowl rematch in Jacksonville this season, as the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Georgia Bulldogs will meet in the Gator Bowl after disappointing regular seasons. Television coverage begins at noon ET on ESPN2.

Poor turnout is expected for the game, as charter flights have been canceled because of a lack of fan interest. Nebraska began the year ranked No. 18 and was seen as a contender in the Big Ten, but lost games to UCLA, Minnesota, Michigan State and Nebraska — none by single-digits.

Georgia started the year ranked No. 5, playing three out of their first four games against top-10 teams. The Bulldogs defeated LSU and South Carolina but lost their opener to Clemson, and injuries struck before a two-game losing stretch to Missouri and Vanderbilt. Georgia lost a dramatic game to Auburn on an improbable Hail Mary and won its finale against Georgia Tech in double-overtime.

The numbers

Rankings and records: Georgia is ranked No. 22, while Nebraska is unranked. Both teams went 8-4 this season with 5-3 records in conference play — the Bulldogs finished third in the SEC East, and the Cornhuskers were third in the B1G Legends. The all-time series between the two schools is tied at 1-1.

Vegas: Georgia is a nine-point favorite. The over/under is 60.5 points.

Weather: Low 60s.

Three names to know

Todd Gurley. With Aaron Murray injured, the Bulldogs will turn to their star running back for production. The sophomore is averaging more than 6.2 yards per carry with 15 total touchdowns in nine games.

Jordan Jenkins. The Bulldogs' star outside linebacker has 11 tackles for a loss, two fumbles recovered and two passes broken up this season.

Ameer Abdullah. With Taylor Martinez out, Abdullah has carried the Nebraska offense through quarterback uncertainty. He ran for more than 1,500 yards and eight touchdowns in the regular season.

Two things at stake

Georgia will look to make it two straight bowl victories over Nebraska.

Beyond trying to take revenge for last year's loss, Bo Pelini is on the hot seat, and the Cornhuskers could be playing for his job.
